HTTP vs HTTPS — which to choose

An HTTP proxy only handles HTTP traffic and forwards everything in plain text. An HTTPS proxy (CONNECT tunnel) opens a TCP tunnel through which encrypted TLS traffic flows — the browser sees the destination as a normal HTTPS site.
